Rahul Gandhi: People’s bitter experience of Mayawati govt.

Slamming Mayawati government for ruling Uttar Pradesh sans governance and in its place unleashing the region of corruption and crime, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Mayawati’s government would be remembered as most corrupt government of the state. Mayawati government broke all records of corruption last set by Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government. People got annoyed with Yadav and brought in Mayawati government with full majority; but what did they get in turn? – Corruption and crime. Rahul Gandhi has said the people of the state irrespective of their callings – aam admi to dalits and poor, farmers to labourers and artisans, shopkeepers to industry and service people – all are tired of regional parties like SP and BSP and their caste politics. These parties do not have any vision or agenda for development of the state. Therefore what development these parties can bring in the state, said Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress led Government at the centre drafted a new Land Acquisition Bill. But some parties have been trying to block it behind the closed doors of the Parliament”. “She also did not found it proper to visit Bundelkhand too” said Rahul Gandhi referring his visit to Bundelkhand and the subsequent relief package sanctioned by the Central Government. Referring the news paper reports regarding the misuse of Bundelkhand funds he said “I read it in today’s news paper that some minister purchased tractors using the funds sent by the Centre under Bundelkhand package. We had sent Rs. 3000 cr for the poor people of Bundelkhand. But that went to the minister’s pocket” alleged the Congress General Secretary.

Rahul Gandhi: SP and BSP failed to bring development in UP

Criticising Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for opposing English and computers in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said SP and BSP leaders failed to bring development in the state. Talking about Mulayam, Congress (I) leader said during his ongoing campaign in Uttar Pradesh, “He is against English and computers, but he ensured his son has knowledge of both. It is just children of the poor who do not have the right to computer and English education.” Rahul Gandhi added that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi brought computers and mobile phone technology to India which has changed lives. While speaking at a public meeting in Badaun recently Congress (I) leader also critised Mayawati government for lack of development in Bundelkhand despite a special package of Rs 8,000 crores was sanctioned by the Centre adding that not a single rupee has reached the people. So bring a Congress (I) government which would work for development and you will see the change in just five years, said Rahul Gandhi.
