BJP-led NDA Govt. failed to perform: Congress

During BJP-led NDA government Ministry of Defence became the hub of corruption. Deals and kick-back were struck at the official residence of the Defence Minister. Comptroller and Auditor General’s report found scams in purchase of more than a dozen items during Operation Vijay code name for Kargil war. What was worse, all the supplies were either received or even contracted after cessation of hostilities. Therefore these contracts and supplied were in no way useful for the military operation. Specific instances are: (1) Supplies valued at Rs. 2,150 crores were received after the cessation of hostilities in July 1999, of which supplies worth Rs. 1,762.21 crore were received after six months of cessation of hostilities. (2) Supplies valued at Rs. 1,606.26 crores (75% of total purchases) were contracted after the cessation of hostilities. (3) In as many as 35 cases, due to relaxation of rules, Government knowingly paid Rs. 44.21 crore extra. All this confirms utter mismanagement of the government by BJP government.
