Latest news - 2010 saw major initiatives undertaken by Congress President in Rae Bareli

RAE BARELI. Congress President Sonia Gandhi launched a number of projects in Rae Bareli in just gone-by year, 2010, aiming for overall development of the people in her constituency. Her each visit proved to be a boon for her constituents.
In Dalmu, she inaugurated the WIMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) service that connects people to the rest of the world. Moreover, she kicked off Aero Post Service in Sareni village and inaugurated 10 road projects covering a total distance of 32.165 km, under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at a cost of Rs.10.8 core. No wonder, her each visit made people happy with her and her party, for the kind of developmental works.
In 2010, Sonia Gandhi started visiting different places and on March 31, she went to Rae Bareli for two days and was not at all satisfied with the implementation of several central government-sponsored schemes, particularly MGREGA (Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act) and the PMGSY. She held regular meetings and discussed the problems of local people. She directed her party members to carry out probe at the earliest so that the welfare schemes sponsored by the central government could meet the desired goals.Congress President Sonia Gandhi also inquired about pending road projects under various schemes — be it from the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) or from the Central Road Fund. She directed the district officials to prepare a detailed report on all the sanctioned projects for building roads, about funds released and their exact status at present.Moreover, she inquired about the smart cards which were provided to 10 thousand people under central rural health scheme. She was unhappy on implementation of only 360 schemes out of 1060. On kinowing that all the Centre-sponsored schemes were not being properly implemented, she ordered for a quick assessment and completion of the projects, as soon as possible.In May last year, Congress President Sonia Gandhi was on a 3-day visit to Rae Bareli and she provided a number of projects to the people in the constituency. One of the biggest gift came in the form of computerized post office in Sareni village which she inaugurated herself. This post office is a great relief to people here and they are happy with the initiative taken by her.Now, people don’t have to sit whole day to do their work, they can finish their work in hours with the help of computer system. In Dalmu, Wimax service was put in service and upto15 kms people can access the internet using WLL. This project was established with the budget of Rs 1.5 cores and BTS (Base Transreceiver Station) was put in there for receiving the signals.The speed is 4 MBPS and people can access the internet easily. With the implementation of internet service people are now connected to the rest of the world and many students are using this for educational purposes.At the end of last year, she again visited Rae Bareli to assess the ground reality on various ongoing central government-sponsored welfare schemes. She held several meetings and interacted with locals face to face to know the real picture.People revealed their grievances and the difficulties they were facing. Congress President Sonia Gandhi assured people about the development programmes and guaranteed that their demands would be fulfilled.No wonder then, people in her parliamentary constituency looks forward to their leader and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, for a number of people-oriented schemes in 2011, too.
