Congress (I) lashed out at Mayawati government for keep demanding more funds under one pretext or the other. But she has not utilised the already sanctioned funds on implementing developmental works and welfare schemes for the dalit and poor people of Uttar Pradesh. For instance Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Center had sanctioned a special package of Rs 8,000 crores for integrated development of Bundelkhand which has been drought ridden for some years. But Mayawati government could spend only 8 to 9% of those funds which confirms BSP government miserably failed to implement development schemes for the poor people. To cover her failure Mayawati government has now written to the Prime Minister to waive off farmers loan in Bundelkhand region. Congress (I) pointed out that it is all politicking by Mayawati. The need is to ensure implementation of development projects rather than dole out money to the poor, said Congress (I).
