Congress (I) has hit hard against Mayawati government for stealing poor people’s money sent by Central government under Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme for providing guaranteed employment to poor people living in rural areas. It is a welfare scheme for the poor which ensures employment and income for the poor. Congress (I) said since scheme is implemented through state government, Mayawati has indulged in all sorts of financial irregularities which has deprived the poor people the benefits of this scheme. BSP leaders in league with officials are giving employment only to select few and denying to the genuine needy poor people. Fictitious muster rolls are being made to show that numbers of poor persons were employed while in fact it is not being done. Thus huge amount is being claimed on the basis of fictitious muster rolls and credited to bogus bank accounts, said Congress (I).
