Condemning UP Chief Minister for rampant corruption and lot of funds of central sponsored welfare programs meant of dalits and poor, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said caste-based political parties have hamstrung growth and development of Uttar Pradesh. Referring to various welfare schemes sponsored by Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Centre like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Janani Sauraksha Yojana (JSY) (Safe Motherhood Delivery), he said, funds granted under welfare schemes and development works are pocketed by corrupt ministers of Mayawati. “The Centre provides massive funds for development and welfare schemes, but if parties like SP and BSP continue to run the state as they have been doing, the money would be gobbled up by the elephant (poll symbol of BSP) and the cycle (poll symbol of SP) would ride over it,” said Rahul Gandhi to which the crowd responded with a thundering applause.
