Congress President Sonia Gandhi while speaking at an election rally at the historic Allahabad as part of her Congress campaign for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh reminded the people about the past unholy political alliances witnessed in the state. The UPA Chairperson alleged that the for the past 22 years nothing had happened in the state towards development and the state slipped backward by the divisive policies of the parties and the politics of caste and religion.
“These (non-Congress) parties blame each other during elections just to secure your votes, but later join hands for their selfish interests.”
“Don’t you remember the alliance of BSP and SP? Don’t you recollect the BJP-BSP alliance in U.P in which they shared the Chief Ministership six-monthly? How long they want to betray the people of Uttar Pradesh like this? How long they will continue with caste and communal politics?” asked the Congress President.
“Now I feel that the people have started realising the truth. Their pain has crossed the limit. There is rampant corruption all around. Can you do anything here without paying bribe? Is anyone here listen to the poor and aggrieved?” she asked and commented “Definitely not”.
