The AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s greater role in the party affairs has got another signal of confirmation from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Mr. Singh said he would welcome Rahul Gandhi assuming the post of Congress Working President.
When asked whether Rahul was going to assume the post of Working President of Congress about which there has been lot of speculation, Singh said, "It is a party matter. I cannot talk about the party. If Rahul Gandhi assumes any responsibility, I will welcome it.”
In the last few years, the Congress leader has been visiting the victims of crimes and atrocities in various places all across the country while UP being his centre of focus. All his efforts in the recent years have shown his political understanding and vision.
The PM also said that he had requested Rahul Gandhi on a number of occasions to join the Cabinet but he had not accepted it. Rahul’s preference of working at the ground level and indulging more with the party workers emerged strongly during the 2009 general elections.
