Flaying Mayawati for rampant corruption in UP government, Congress (I) has said there is yet another scam in construction of public conveniences in the state. Her government with much fan fare declared a cleanliness program. Construction of lavatories was announced. But due to rampant corruption the funds for the program have been misused and have not been spent for the public welfare scheme. There was much noise about the program but on ground almost nothing has been done. Merely announcing the program is of no use, said Congress (I). Benefits of the welfare scheme must reach the people for the scheme to be successful. This is the situation all over the state. For instance in Bareilly the scheme was announced with fan fare and even toilet seats were distributed to the people. But thereafter work has not started for the block where toilets are to be constructed, said Congress (I).
