Slamming UP chief minister for not even bothering to know the plight of the people she has been ruling for the last five years, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Mayawati has been avoiding to meet the poor. She came to power on the votes of the poor whom she promised to provide corruption-free government and gave assurance to work for their welfare. But once in power she forgot all this. Mayawati does not know what is happening in the state, said Rahul Gandhi adding that the poor have been most affected by corruption in her government. Referring to shortage of fertilizers and urea, Rahul Gandhi said that adequate quantity is being sent by the Centre, but it is "black marketed and farmers have to stand in queue and pay double prices.” Urging the people to vote for change Rahul Gandhi has assured that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will work for their welfare.
