Mayawati betrayed women by looting JSY Funds, says Congress (I)

Slamming Mayawati for misuses of welfare funds sent by the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre, Congress (I) alleged that BSP government swindled money meant for welfare of poor women. Referring the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) the Congress alleged that Mayawati betrayed even the women in the state for whom Congress-led Central Government had sent a huge amount of funds under welfare and health care schemes, said Congress (I). 

“Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is one of such schemes under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). The scheme by the Congress-led UPA is meant to encourage institutional delivery of pregnant women.  For this Rs 1400 are given to each woman as incentive. But even in this scheme there are reports of wide-spread irregularities, Congress (I) said. “From the reports available through RTI there are reports of that a woman is shown to have delivered twice in five months. Most bizarre case came to notice in Allahabad district where 619 unmarried girls were shown to have delivered and amount was fraudulently claimed in their names” informed the Congress.
