Attacking the opposition, particularly BJP, for back tracking on passing the strong Lokpal Bill in Parliament, Congress (I) President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had said that the fight against corruption is the prime agenda of Congress (I) and added that Congress would not rest till the Lokpal becomes a reality. It is on record that no other political party has done so much in this direction as Congress (I) has done, Sonia Gandhi said while addressing various public meetings in Uttar Pradesh as part of her Congress campaign in the state. “Congress (I)-led UPA government has introduced the culture of transparency and accountability by implementing the Right to Information Act. After the implementation of this new act, the fight against Corruption has increased” claimed Sonia Gandhi and added “The faith of the aam aadmi on democracy has increased. Corrupt forces have developed a feeling of fear and terror”. “Timely action carried out by the government has increased the confidence of the aam admi to stand and fight against corruption” said the Congress President. Reiterating that UP needs a change in government Sonia Gandhi urged the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that Congress would provide corruption-free, transparent and responsive government which they have been missing under the non-Congress parties like BSP, SP and BJP.
