BSP, SP indulged in caste based politics to grab power: Rahul Gandhi

Lashing out at non-Congress parties like BSP and SP for ruling the state of Uttar Pradesh over the past two decades by putting out false promises to the people, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said these parties were responsible for stopping development in UP. “These non-Congress parties have indulged in casteist politics to grab power and enjoyed spoils of the game at the cost of the welfare of the people and development of the state”, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a huge gathering in Lucknow as part of his Congress campaign in the state.

“BSP chief Mayawati is indifferent to the problems of the people”, Rahul Gandhi added. Rahul Gandhi said that workers from UP built the shining Delhi Metro, made big buildings in Maharashtra and brought development there; but in their own state they are being forced to live without development and in abject poverty.

“We (Congress) have sent huge amounts for development but where has that money gone?” Rahul Gandhi asked. Highlighting that these non-Congress parties are more interested in sharing the spoils of the game than in development of the state, Rahul Gandhi asked the people to support Congress to form a government in the state to bring back the lost glory of Uttar Pradesh.
