Rahul Gandhi: Congress talks about people without distinction of caste or religion
Slamming non-Congress parties like BSP, SP and BJP for centering their politics about caste and religion, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said, “We (Congress) do not talk about caste or religion, but talk about people without distinction of caste or religion, we talk of development.” “I feel angry when I see UP lagging behind while the rest of the country is moving forward,” had said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings at various places in Uttar Pradesh as part of his campaign earlier for the recently held assembly elections in the state. The Congress leader had reminded the people that Uttar Pradesh was once the leading state in the country when the state was ruling by Congress (I) rule and during that period a number of mega projects were brought in. Rahul Gandhi also had said that the people were happy and there was no unemployment under Congress rule. When the caste based politics dominated in the state everything changed, concerned the Congress MP. “The non-Congress leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati betrayed the people with hollow promises and pocketed the welfare funds instead of spending on the public. As a result development stopped and now there is nobody to care for the poor”, said Rahul Gandhi. Reminding the people that this trend would not stop unless the people reject these non-Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi requested the people to support Congress and enable it to form a government. The Congress General Secretary assured that Congress (I) would work for the people without discrimination of caste or religion and turn the face of the state in next ten years.
