She urged the people to fight against communal forces using Shri Narayana Guru's teaching. The Congress president praised Sree Narayana Guru at the inauguration of annual pilgrimage at Sivagiri Mutt in Kerala. Gandhi said there can be no more betrayal of Sree Narayana Guru's beliefs than attempts to capture his ideology by those who spread bigotry. She stated that Mahatma Gandhi also worked for social equality.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed a fishermen's gathering at a village in Kerala's Thrissur. “Land is becoming very valuable and it is owned by farmers, they have spent last 50-60 yrs working on it. Central government wants to take their land away. So we are fighting them. The kisan (farmer) is asking me why is the NDA government intent on destroying us. Why are they not giving us the correct Minimum Support Price? Why are they not giving us compensation when rain and hail destroys our crops?” said the Congress leader.

Sonia Gandhi: There has been a spurt in communal violence after NDA government came to power
Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the Narendra Modi led NDA government at the Centre over the increasing incidents of communal conflicts in the country, especially in the northern India. "There has been a spurt in communal violence in the country, especially in some states, after the new government came to power," Sonia said while addressing Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee convention in Thiruvananthapuram.
