Latest news - Rahul Gandhi urges party workers to gear up for 2012 Assembly poll in UP
LUCKNOW: January 18, 2011. The Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi urged the party workers to launch a relentless stir against the BSP government in UP, as the Congress would form the next government in the state, on its own strength.
On Tuesday, while addressing the party’s UP coordination committee, he asked the party workers to fan out across the state and to apprise the people about corruption in the state government.
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said his party would fight against the menace of widespread corruption in the BSP-ruled state. He stressed on hard work and asked the party workers to gear up for the organisation.
“There was no need of being on back-foot or being defensive on any issue and the party leaders should fight out the prevailing deteriorating situation in the state,” stressed Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.
The UP coordination committee of the party was held over two days in Lucknow for strategic planning for the 2012 state Assembly elections in UP. The meeting, which concluded on Tuesday, was attended by Central ministers from UP, other senior leaders including MPs and MLAs.
During his stay in Lucknow, at the party’s headquarters, mother of the teenager, who died after she was sexually abused allegedly by her school manager’s son in Kanpur last September, met Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, seeking his intervention for justice. She alleged that police had harassed her during the course of investigation.
