Congress (I) has lashed out at Mayawati government for scam in Sarva Shiksha Abiyan. This program like many other programs has been financed by Central government so that no child is left without education in the state. Free books are given to poor children for printing of which tenders were required to be called from parties. But rules for calling tenders were not followed, said Congress (I). Not even tendering process was complied with. Panel was formed to execute the work of printing for which appointments were made in non-transparent manner. The amount involved in the printing of books was Rs 6 crores. But the entire order for printing was given to a single company was shrouded in non-transparency, said Congress (I). The quality of printing was so bad that neither these copy/books are readable nor anything can be written upon them. Thus Mayawati government brought about failure of the Sasrva Shiksha Abiyan in the state, said Congress (I).
