Rahul Gandhi: Non-Congress (I) govts without vision or agenda for UP

Charging non-Congress (I) governments of Uttar Pradesh for lack of vision or agenda for the welfare of poor or development of the state, Rahul Gandhi has said these governments have been interested in grabbing power and plunder of central funds. "In 1980 Rajiv Gandhi talked about computers and people are getting benefited today. Until and unless leaders think in long-term UP cannot progress," he said. Rahul said that states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka progressed because Congress governments there had a vision and leaders thought about the future. "Non-Congress governments think only about today," he said. Highlighting loot of central funds in UP, Rahul Gandhi said, "Rajiv Gandhi used to say that of Re one only 15 paise reach people, but in UP not a single paise is reaching." He said that the loss was not that of the Centre or the state government, but that of the people and future of UP. He has assured the people of UP that Congress (I) will put the state on the path of fast track development, if given chance to form government after Assembly elections due in 2012.
