Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi takes first hand account of Self Help Group ‘Priyadarshini’

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit to the districts of Uttar Pradesh.He visited Barabanki, Gonda, Bahraich and Faizabad on Wednusday and spent a night at a Dalit house in Sravasti district. Congress General Secretary also visited agriculture farms and had his bath at a hand pump.

Congress General Secretary took first hand account of Self Help Group ‘Priyadarshini’ during his visit. Priyadarshini is a brainchild of Rahul Gandhi, introduced in 2002, in Raebareli and Sultanpur. It has now been expanded to ten districts of the region including some of Bundelkhand.

Congress General Secretary stepped out of Amausi airport in Lucknow at 3 pm on Wednesday and thereafter went to Barabanki. He flew an economy class to Lucknow. Congress General Secretary interacted with villagers in Barabanki and heard their grievances.

Next, he went to Bahraich around 7.30 pm. After a brief halt and some interaction with villagers by the roadside, his motorcade left for Munshiganj.

Congress General Secretary spent his night at the house of Chhedi Panchi, a dalit, in Tihar Purva village of Sravasti. He has also spent nights in villages in his earlier visits and this is not unusual considering his style of functioning.
Congress General Secretary returned to Delhi on Thursday.
