October 5, 2009, Hyderabad: Congress President Sonia Gandhi conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit districts of Andhra Pradesh today. She was accompanied by Home Minister P Chidambaram and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Roshaiah. She saw the devastation caused by flood in worst affected Mahboobnagar and Kurnool districts and assessed the damage. She also assessed the relief and rehabilitation measures.
Congress President landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad in the morning and left for flood hit areas. The worst floods in the Krishna river in 100 years have caused widespread devastation in five districts of the state, killing 37 people, rendering over 400,000 homeless and damaging crops over thousands of acres.
