Lakhs of farmers got the benefit of loan waiver scheme: Sonia Gandhi

October 4, 2009, Karnal(Haryana): Congress President Sonia Gandhi while addressing an election rally at Karnal(Haryana) said that the UPA government at centre has done a lot for the betterment of the farmers of Haryana. She said, “ Lakhs of farmers in your state have been benefited through the loan waiver scheme of the UPA government. It has thrown a new light to their families and life.” She said that the problems of the farmers have come down and youths are seeing a new future for themselves, thanks to the policies of Congress Party.

Speaking on the specific projects of the UPA government for the state, Congress President said, “The UPA government has helped Haryana in a big way. The changes visible here are surprising and people of the country are watching it with praise. New colleges and universities are being opened up in the state. A Central University is being set up in Mahendragarh. There are also proposals for an AIIMS and a Defence University to be set up in the state,” she said. She termed these initiatives as historical.
