Lashing out against Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for playing fast on the people of Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these leaders have betrayed the trust the people had put in them. He accused BSP and Samajwadi Party for indulging in caste-based vote bank politics while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. Stressing that it was right time that the people get rid of these parties Rahul Gandhi said, "You showed full confidence in the BSP and gave it 208 seats in the last elections, but did Mayawati come to you or heard your problems?" He added that earlier people believed in Samajwadi Party but it too did nothing for them. On the contrary, “They got criminals posted in police stations and the victims did not get justice,” Rahul Gandhi said. Highlighting that these parties has duped the people over two decades, Rahul Gandhi urged the people not to play into their tricks anymore. He requested them to give this time a chance to Congress (I) and promised that Congress (I) would put the state back on the track of development and assured that the people will witness development in five years.
