Rahul Gandhi: We will not rest until Lokpal is a reality

Lashing out against BJP for back tracing on passing of Lokpal bill in the Parliament, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Congress (I) will not rest until strong law on Lokpal Bill is passed in the parliament and becomes a reality. BJP was crying for bringing Lokpal Bill and fanning Anna Hazare movement to discomfit UPA government on this issue. But when time came for passing Lokpal Bill it pressed red button to defeat the bill, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for upcoming UP Assembly elections. Now people have seen the real face of BJP, he said highlighting that while Congress (I) is working hard to bring on board all the parties to end corruption, BJP is not interested in doing so. Urging the people not to trust BJP and its ilk, Rahul Gandhi requested them to give this time a chance to Congress (I) to form government. He assured them that Congress (I) would provide responsive and good governance.

Rahul Gandhi lashed out at BJP for its double speak on corruption and Lokpal bill. While addressing various election rallies in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress General Secretary said that the non-Congress rule in the past 22 years in U.P blocked the development in the state.

Rahul Gandhi: BSP and SP indulge in caste-based politics in U.P

Lashing out against Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for playing fast on the people of Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these leaders have betrayed the trust the people had put in them. He accused BSP and Samajwadi Party for indulging in caste-based vote bank politics while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. Stressing that it was right time that the people get rid of these parties Rahul Gandhi said, "You showed full confidence in the BSP and gave it 208 seats in the last elections, but did Mayawati come to you or heard your problems?" He added that earlier people believed in Samajwadi Party but it too did nothing for them. On the contrary, “They got criminals posted in police stations and the victims did not get justice,” Rahul Gandhi said. Highlighting that these parties has duped the people over two decades, Rahul Gandhi urged the people not to play into their tricks anymore. He requested them to give this time a chance to Congress (I) and promised that Congress (I) would put the state back on the track of development and assured that the people will witness development in five years.

Mayawati failed to check crime against women: Rahul Gandhi

Lashing out against Mayawati for failing to provide good governance to the people of the Uttar Pradesh, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she failed to check crime against women particularly those against women of weaker sections. “Pradesh andher nagri ban gaya hai (darkness of crime has engulfed the state). Loot-khosat ki rajniti chal rahi hai (politics of extortion is in full swing). Praja ko sunne wala koi nahe hai (there is no body to attend to the grievances of the people), said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in February 2012. Mayawati put aside critical political, economic and social issues of the state and preferred to indulge in corrupt practices to amass money. He reminded the people, “You have seen what happened in Gautam Budh Nagar to the farmers whose lands were forcibly grabbed by the BSP government for handing over to corporate builders. Farmers were paid paltry sum. But those very lands were later sold to private builders at 10 to 15 higher rates” said Rahul Gandhi. Appealing people to put an end to her government, Rahul Gandhi urged them to vote this time for Congress (I) which, he promised, would provide responsive government to the people of the state.
