Launching scathing attack against Mayawati for running most corrupt government, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she is responsible for backwardness of Bundelkhand region. Corruption coupled with diversion of funds by her government from central welfare schemes has resulted in absence of development in that region, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the Center had approved a development package for the drought hit region but the money was not reaching there. Recently Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission visited Bundelkhand to review implementation and expressed dissatisfaction over the use of development money. Due to Rahul Gandhi’s initiative Center had approved Rs 8,000 crore special package for development of Bundelkhand. Targeted delivery of funds and not paucity of money was the main issue behind backwardness, said Rahul Gandhi. He assured the people that Congress (I) would put in place a system which would deliver the whole of the intended benefits to the people and not just mere empty promises as Mayawati has been doing. He highlighted that Congress (I) in its manifesto has assured another development package for the Bundelkhand region.
