Development oriented approach of Congress (I) is the only alternative for the present problems in UP, said Congress. During his public meetings for upcoming Assembly elections, Congress star campaigner Rahul Gandhi also said that over the last two decades these non-Congress parties have been ruining the state. BJP ruled the state, but gave nothing. Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party was only interested to work for some particular caste which benefited only 10% of the people. Mayawati government turned out to be the worst as it indulged in corruption and malpractices. None of these parties cared for the people. Rahul Gandhi said the only way to end this vicious cycle of caste politics and corruption is to bring responsible and development oriented government led by Congress. Rahul Gandhi assured the people that Congress (I) will fulfill the aspirations of the people in UP.

We implemented Mahatma Gandhi NREGA policy to address the issue of unemployment in the villages by which every poor is guaranteed for a minimum of 100 days’ job every year. The UPA framed policies like Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission to ensure house, water and roads, National Rural Health Mission to provide adequate health facilities for the poor, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan to ensure that every children in the age group of 6 to 14 get proper education, Mid-day meal scheme to ensure food to every children in the schools, Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana, opened up new Universities and implemented Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme to provide electricity at every place”.

But after the elections Mayawati forgot the people, alleged Rahul Gandhi. Congress leaders also said that Mayawati’s greed for money led to non-transparency in administrative actions. For the same reason she favored real estates companies at the cost of farmers whose lands she forcibly acquired and handed over to private builders, they felt.

Congress also alleged that nstead of encouraging industrial growth in the state which could provide badly needed employment opportunities to people, Mayawati’s policies created conditions that forced industries to close down. Saying that Mayawati government became a trading company for striking business deals, Congress wants Mayawati must be accountable for all her misdeeds.
