Mayawati sold food for poor in black market: Congress (I)

Coming down hard on Mayawati government for not ensuring supply to the poor of their basic necessity – food, Congress (I) has said her government let the PDS food items meant for the poor being sold in black market. This led to a PDS scam of Rs 95,000 crores, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. CBI is probing the scam. It is most shameful that consumable items like wheat, rice and sugar meant for poor people living below poverty line disappeared in black market instead of being distributed at subsidized rates, added Rahul Gandhi. This confirms that Mayawati is least concerned with welfare of the poor people. She only talks of dalits but thinks about her personal and party gain, he further said. Urging the people to oust her corrupt government, Rahul Gandhi promised that this time if Congress (I) is voted to power it would provide corruption-free government and ensure that benefits of the Public Distribution Scheme reach the poor.
