The Congress (I) has set ablaze political activities in Karnataka with countering of BJP leader L K Advani's "Jan Chetana Yatra". Though, the much talked about rally of the BJP entered the party ruled state on Sunday, parallel to it the opposition Congress staged a rally demanding the saffron party’s latest political venture be scrapped. The agitated Congress MLAs were demanding dissolution of the Assembly in view of corruption charges against the ruling party leaders.
Addressing "Go Back Advani" protest at the Freedom Park, KPCC President G Parameshwar ridiculed Advani's yatra in view of the scandals rocking the BJP government in the Deccan state. The mammoth blame slashing the state BJP is not surprising as it has been vindicated in land scams of crores of rupees.
Referring to the arrest of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and former minister Krishnaiah Setty in connection with land denotification scams, he asked whether Advani was coming to give bouquets to them.
"I have prepared a list of 14 ministers who are facing corruption allegations. In next few months, ten more ministers would go to jail," he claimed. He further added that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda should dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate as there were serious allegations levelled against some of his ministers.
Mercury level has gone up high - its downfall will depend on how the current political situation goes further and how the ruling party handles the state of affairs there.
