Sonia Gandhi calls for education for all children

Congress President Sonia Gandhi recently on a visit to Raebareli laid the foundation stone of Navodaya Vidyalaya Sports Complex. Addressing the gathering on the occasion she said that India is a country of villages. More than 70 per cent of the country’s population resides in the villages where the parents don’t have sufficient money to pay for their school fees. This results in the children being deprived of quality education. Congress President urged that no child be deprived of education. She said Navodaya Vidyalayas are aimed at overall development of students from villages by exposing them to quality and modern education. In addition to imparting basic education a lot of emphasis is put on developing social values, physical education and awareness towards environment. Keeping this aspect in mind, she said, the UPA Government has decided to equip each Navodaya Vidyalaya with sports complex as well.
