Rahul Gandhi: SP and BSP are anti-poor and anti-farmers

Launching a scathing attack on Samajwadi party of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party of Mayawati for failing to protect the interests of poor and farmers, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these parties have been busy with their casteist agenda rather than protecting the interests of poor and farmers who constitute a vast majority of the people of the state. During his recent public contract program in districts of central UP, Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting said under the present political dispensation in UP, the poor were being denied employment and farmers being forcibly dispossessed of their land. Referring to Bhatta-Parsaul carnage in which Mayawati government killed farmers in police firing and destroyed their properties for protesting against forcible acquisition of their lands, Rahul Gandhi said, “When farmers ask for compensation, they get police bullets and are branded as Naxals by the state government.”
