Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Badalpur said, “The Congress gave MNREGA, loan wavier scheme for farmers, weavers package, Bundelkhand package and now ready with the food security bill under which every poor family will get 35 kg of food grain every month.” He said that the Congress had given reservation to women in panchayats in order to ensure their participation in politics.
Rahul Gandhi told farmers that they work hard in their fields but get bullets in return under Mayawati government. “You should not clap but the country should clap for you. I will clap for you,” he said and clapped his hands.
The Congress leader further said that a woman had told him that her land had been acquired for some builders without her consent and was immediately asked to vacate the land. When she requested the cops that she should be allowed to reap the harvest, the police set fire to the crops.
