Hitting hard against Mayawati for occasionally dropping her ministers, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she used this route to mislead the people and to protect her corrupt ministers from investigation, criminal prosecution and final punishment. NRHM scam and murder of two CMOs in Lucknow handling NRHM funds sent by central government was the making of her two ministers Babu Singh Kushwaha, the then minister of Family Welfare department and Anant Kumar Mishra, the then Minister of Health department, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting for upcoming UP Assembly elections next month. NRHM funds to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees were looted by these ministers. By removing these two ministers Mayawati pre-empted a CBI inquiry, he further said adding that it was Congress (I) which exposed this multi-crore scam. Ultimately High Court ordered CBI probe which is now underway. Highlighting that her ministers looted NRHM funds meant for the poor, Rahul Gandhi urged the people this time to vote for Congress (I) which would ensure that benefits of welfare schemes reach the poor.
